Members of the BRICS countries view Turkey as a strategic partner and a regional leader, South African Ambassador to Ankara Pule I. Malefane said in an interview with Daily Sabah on Friday.
Turkey’s president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will travel to the South African capital Johannesburg on July 25 to attend the tenth summit of the BRICS bloc, which groups Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
“It is not by accident that President Erdoğan was invited to the BRICS Summit,” Malefane told Daily Sabah. “Turkey is being regarded as a strategic ally in strengthening South-to-South relations and Agenda 2063, which is a strategic vision of the African Union.”
According to Malefane, the challenges and opportunities presented by the fourth industrial revolution will be one of the key issues to be tackled during the summit and Turkey’s contribution is expected to be critical.
