A prominent Greek businessman and the head of a new political party in Athens said he and his fellow Greeks are “frightened” of the prospect of an inexperienced Donald Trump in the White House.

“I have the feeling that he’s inexperienced in international affairs, and he lacks knowledge about the political systems in other parts of the world. Also, there’s a lack of connections at the level of leaders all over the world,” Yanos Gramatidis, founder and president of the fledgling New Course New Greece party, told the Washington Times during a Washington visit Thursday.

Mr. Gramatidis recalled an incident when then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton forgot the name of an important foreign official — a mistake that he said now seems trivial compared to Mr. Trump‘s unfamiliarity with international issues and personalities.

“We thought that it was a really big mistake at the time,” Mr. Gramatidis said. “Now, we have Trump who actually doesn’t know the leaders, he was never in contact with the leaders, and he has never touched upon the problems in these areas — particularly political problems. I’m afraid it would make him the kind of president who doesn’t know how to react and how to make the final decision regarding very important international issues.”

Mr. Gramatidis served as president of the American Chamber of Commerce in Greece and is currently the chamber’s honorary president.
