Last year’s failed coup attempt in Turkey is a false flag orchestrated by Turkey’s President Recep Tayip Erdoğan to create a pretext for a mass persecution of critics and opponents in a state of perpetual emergency, a new report has said.

The 191-page study titled ‘July 15: Erdoğan’s Coup’ by the Swedish Stockholm Center for Freedom (SCF) said the last year’s violent attempt to overthrow the Turkish government did not even qualify a coup bid in any sense of military mobilization.

SCF said its report was based on publicly available data, the coup indictments, testimonials in court trials, private interviews, reviews of military expert opinions and other evidence collected by researchers.

The report said, “The testimonial from defendants and the evidence that was uncovered so far has further bolstered the view that the coup attempt was nothing but a set-up.”

After the July 15 failed coup, more than 150,000 government employees were dismissed from their positions on the basis of their critical views without an effective judicial and administrative probes.
