THE CYPRIOT ambassador in Russia, Leonidas Markides, has met with the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, Mr Kirill and discussed the situation in Cyprus.
Ambassador Markides briefed the Patriarch on the latest developments of the Cyprus question, the non-solution of which was characterized by the Patriarch as an “open wound”, not only for the Cypriots, but also for the entire Orthodox world.
A press release issued by the Cyprus PIO, said that the discussion between the Patriarch and the Ambassador also covered the destruction of the cultural and religious heritage in the occupied areas of Cyprus, and the efforts made by the Government and the Church of Cyprus to repatriate religious heirlooms illegally exported and traded on the international markets.
